Stone Soup Soil Crawl

Saturday, July 15th from 10:00 am-4:00 pm

2241 Old U.S. 10, Laurel, MT, 59044

Join us this summer for a Soil Crawl!

Building soil health is different everywhere depending on a property’s existing soils, history, and microclimate. “Soil Crawls,” are public events where we gather to explore the soil health on our members’ ranches and farms to learn what we could do to improve its resiliency, productivity, and microbial activity.

Our first Soil Crawl will be held at Stone Soup Garden in Laurel Montana on Saturday, July 15. Participants will tour a small-scale, regenerative farm in the Yellowstone Valley led by young farmers striving to cultivate healthy soil, food, and community. Stone Soup Garden is the culmination of a decade of experiences in local food, organic farming, and building intentional community!

Stone Soup Garden is in the early years of building a vegetable farm from the ground up. Come learn about the challenges of building infrastructure, transitioning a grass pasture to garden soil, and developing markets for locally-grown food.  You’ll hear about Stone Soup’s journey building healthy soil, see the basics of regenerative agriculture in practice, and learn how collaboration can strengthen local food networks.

We will also have the chance to learn about the geology and soil characteristics of this specific location and the greater region. Together, we will explore Stone Soup Garden’s vision to create a community centered around healthy food! And we want you to be part of it all. Further event and speaker details will be shared after registration.
