Montana’s senior Senator introduces bill to reinstate COOL

“When I go to a store and I see a label, I want to know that label is telling the truth…”

– Member Cori Day describing the impact of fraudulent labeling on our beef at Senator Tester’s press conference to introduce the American Beef Labeling Act.

The bill was introduced in mid-September and requires country-of-origin labeling for beef while addressing concerns about the existing World Trade Organization dispute. The introduction of this legislation is the culmination of 6 years fighting for COOL since it was repealed in 2015. Northern Plains thanks Senator Tester for introducing this important legislation to level the playing field for American ranchers and restore transparency for consumers.
