TPP is ‘Scary! ’ Northern Plains members to present petition on Halloween

Monday, October 31
1:00-1:25 p.m.
Rep. Zinke’s Office (222 N 32nd Street)
Billings

Several members of Northern Plains Resource Council will be in full costume on Halloween Day while delivering a petition to Rep. Ryan Zinke urging him to vote “no” when the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal is presented to Congress.

There isn’t much scarier than a 6,000-plus-page trade deal brokered by multinational corporations behind closed doors. The Trans-Pacific Partnership would diminish our national sovereignty and shackle democracy for the sake of giving corporations legal control over environmental regulations, food safety laws, and more, if they deem our laws bad for their profit margin.

Northern Plains Resource Council, a conservation and family agriculture group based in Billings, fought against NAFTA and other unfair trade deals, and fought for country-of-origin labeling (COOL) of meat products, which was quashed in a NAFTA challenge.
