The health of Montana’s soil resources are key components of our state’s economy and critical to safeguarding the future of our food system. As interest in soil health grows, Northern Plains and our allies are reaching out to producers and agriculture professionals across the state as part of the Montana Soil Health Outreach Initiative. Specifically, we’re asking, “What more might be done to better support Montana’s farmers and ranchers in managing their soil?”
So, if you are a farmer, rancher, or an ag professional (e.g. extension agent, conservation district administrator, soil scientist, etc.), we want to hear from you!
You can participate in two ways: complete a survey and/or sign up for a focus group session coming up this spring.
Responses will help shape a report on how Montana can increase the pace and scale at which land stewards implement voluntary practices and systems to improve soil health. This report will be available publicly this August and all responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.
