PrintThe Hobble Diamond Ranch near Big Timber will host the Rhythms by the River concert on Saturday, July 23.

The concert runs from 4 to 8 p.m. and features Wally McRae and Stephanie Davis. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at gate. The event includes music, poetry, dinner, a raffle and a silent auction.

Gates open and food is served at 4 p.m., music and poetry begin at 5. A print by artist Clyde Aspevig will be raffled off.

The event is a fundraiser for the Northern Plains Resource Council.

Davis sings, plays guitar and fiddle, writes, and draws. Her songs have been recorded by such notables as Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Joey+Rory and others. She was a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor’s public radio show, “A Prairie Home Companion, and she sings at festivals and cowboy poetry gatherings throughout the country.

McRae, a third-generation rancher near Colstrip, has been a part of nearly every National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. He was the first cowboy poet to be awarded the National Heritage Award from the National Endowment for the Arts. He is a recipient of the Montana Governor’s Award for the Arts and has served on the National Council of the Arts.
