A wide variety of local bands will perform at the “Music for the Mountains: Defend the Beartooth Front” benefit concert, Monday, April 28, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co.’s Garage Pub.

The event is free and open to the public.

Participating bands include Satsang, Poetic Intelligence, Reid Perry and the Cold City Lights, and Lindsey Jacobsen. Spoken word poet Dave Caserio will perform with musician Alex Nauman. Other poets include Cara Chamberlain, James Hickman, Danell Jones, Doug Oltrogge, Anna Paige and Bernie Quetchenbach.

The benefit concert was the brainchild of Caserio, and David Cleaves, mandolin player in the roots/reggae duo Satsang. They each had the idea independently and got in touch with Northern Plains Resource Council to see how they could help defend the Beartooth Front from oil and gas development and hydraulic fracturing.

“This is about a community joining together to understand a complicated issue and how it affects all of us,” Caserio said.

Cleaves added, “I encourage people to come learn more about what is happening in our backyard.”

Burgers and veggie burgers will be available for sale and $1 of each pint of beer will go to the Beartooth Defense Fund of Northern Plains Resource Council.
