The Third West in Transition: Exploring Resilience in Contemporary Rural Landscape
May 21 @ 7:00 pm
Third West describes those rural and isolated locations like southern Stillwater County that remain closely tied to natural resource markets and the uncertainty and challenges they imply. Drawing on a range of research projects analyzing community responses to major shifts in coal, oil and gas, and property markets, this presentation explores elements of resilience in Third West communities. The talk is illustrated by the stunning landscape photography of Chris Boyer, Kestrel Aerial Photography.
Julia Haggerty is an Associate Professor of Geography in the Department of Earth Sciences at Montana State University.
